The Jamaican Association for Physics in Medicine was officially incorporated under the Jamaican Companies Act as a limited liability company on October 25, 2021. The JAPMs mission is to promote the development of Medical Physics and the application of physics in medicine or related fields
Functions
The Association will endeavor to fulfill its aim through the following functions:
- Aid in the dissemination of information on the role of physics in medicine.
- Collaborate in the organization of activities required to train medical physicists, and participate in the certification and accreditation processes.
- Maintain a placement service, and a membership and specialty roster.
- Provide for exchange of ideas through the organization of national and international conferences, courses and workshops, covering scientific and technical topics related to physics in medicine.
- Represent the membership internationally in the area of Medical Physics.
- Represent the membership in interaction with government agencies and other organizations.
- Assist and advise the government and associate groups with scientific and professional matters in fields related to physics in medicine.
- Collaborate and provide advice to public and private bodies that may have an interest in activities related to physics in medicine.
